The 麻豆传媒入口 (CSSHL) has announced the male U18 divisions will compete for a National Championship during the 2026/27 season.
This will be the first ever CSSHL National Championship as U18 teams from the Eastern Division will take on U18 Prep teams from the Western Division in a National Championship in the spring of 2027 to conclude the 2026/27 season.
The CSSHL, which was formed in 2009, has seen significant growth, particularly in Eastern Canada, having grown from 25 member programs at the end of the 2021/22 season, to 38 at the start of the 2024/25 season. The league currently features 129 teams and 2,500 student-athletes spanning from British Columbia to Prince Edward Island, as well as Idaho and Washington. Interest continues to grow among accredited schools across Canada and the U.S., reflecting the league鈥檚 expanding reach and reputation.
鈥淲e are extremely excited to announce the formation of the National Championship for our U18 Male division,鈥 said CSSHL CEO Andy Oakes.听鈥淭his is another step forward for the CSSHL in being a National Leader in Education based Hockey and allows our members to compete and strive for their own National Championship.听 This is a major step in the evolution of the CSSHL.鈥
Currently CSSHL Champions are crowned independently in the Eastern and Western divisions. Teams from the East can appear as guest teams at Western Showcases, and vice-versa, but the National Championship will be a large step forward in unifying the league and allowing the two divisions to compete for National supremacy.
The ability to compete for a National Championship will unite the Eastern and Western Divisions, creating a nation-wide feel within the league, as well as providing increased exposure to the Eastern Division as it continues to grow and expand.
As National Leaders in Education-Based Hockey, this CSSHL event will celebrate education-based hockey and showcase the top U18 teams across Canada. Since its inception in 2009, the CSSHL has produced 48 NHL players, 151 NHL Draft picks, and more than 850 CHL and 2100 CJHL players. This National Championship will provide increased exposure at the national stage for hockey鈥檚 next wave of superstars.
Only CSSHL full-time members who participate in the CSSHL regular season and playoff schedule will be eligible for the National Championship.
The format and qualifying criteria will be announced in the fall of 2025.
